Wow it has been a while. I am back from convention and hoping to share with you some of the great things I learned while I was away. I have two projects to share with you. They were inspired by Desiree Spenst who gave me this amazing project at convention

I decided that I would like to try my hand at this project for two dear friends one that was getting married and one that had a baby. I really enjoyed making these and will be offering a class in the process in Late September. If you are interested please e-mail me to get the information.

New Mini Catty Alert! OK I am in deep trouble with this new mini! Way to many wonderful sets and great new accessories. If you would like a copy you can click here, or send me a e-mail and I will mail you one! Here is a card using french foliage from the new Mini. This card begins again with the watercolor card technique I showed you several posts ago. I then used bleach to stamp leaves and then went back in with both Concord Crush and Poppy Parade to stamp over the bleached areas. I then stamped the script and the and postal stamp also Concord Crush.

Another Watercolor Card

Here is another card using The water color technique I showed you the other day. It is so easy to create wonderful images with this technique because it already looks like a background before you start stamping. I also used bleach to get some of the text to show and splattered water when the card was almost dry to get the water resisted areas. Thanks for looking Virginia

Water color Technique

This Card starts with a technique I demonstrated at the Wow event put on by Latenight Stampers a pre convention event. It starts with a technique I borrowed from Tim Holtz using ink spots. I thought it would be easier to show you so here you go!

Start with Waterproof cloth(craft cloth), stamping spots and a water spritzer. I used Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and Bashful Blue

Start by running Spot across sheet to create a strip of color. Do this three times once with each colors and avoid touching colors

This is what it should look like now

Spritz with water till you see water droplets all over


Close up of water droplets

Place paper on top of wet area

Smooch around to get color all over paper

Lift off When dry you can go back and do this again to add intensity

Card is ready for stamping when dry

Masculine Card swap

One of the swaps I participated in at convention was a masculine swap. I swapped and received over 60 different cards. They are really great and I have many of them already displayed on my boards in my studio. If you haven't stopped in to my studio it is great fun and I have so many awesome projects to inspire you.

Swapping is one of the great perks to going to convention everyone swaps and shares ideas. (LOL my downline's hubby thought we sold our cards he he!) I brought home enough ideas to share with you all for the whole year and then some! Convention was way to much fun. I am already planning for next year and it looks like 2 of my downlines will be going. If you want to join in the fun why not become a stamping up demo. The card starts with a 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 section of Crumb Cake card stock.
Score at 2 1/4 and 6 3/4
Fold and punch using oval punches for sleeves (medium) and for collar (smallest)
Stamp front with sanded
Punch out pockets with tag punches designer series paper fold over to create pocket seam (don't you just love the textures that the patterns create!)
Stamp skeeter spray and compass on whisper white and punch out
Tuck into pockets and glue in place
Stamp sentiments. Enjoy!

Convention was Awesome

Hello I have been MIA for a while. Summer has made me way to laid back!

I got back from convention a few weeks ago and had the most wonderful time. Last year I set a goal of bringing one of my down line (stamping Up demo) with me to convention. At that time I didn't even have a down line. My friend Marilyn made it possible! Stamping has taught me so many artistic lessons but the circle of friends I have met has truly made it special. As you can see below Marilyn and I had way too much fun. To get a small idea of the fun imagine 3000 women at a giant pajama party for a week. Not only did we have so much fun sharing and swapping cards(I swapped well over 500) We get free stamps, special deals and lots of other perks! Why wouldn't you want to become a demonstrator as well! The card starts with stamping with versa mark using En Francais and Elements of style. Mix Clear embossing powder with dazzling diamonds, then sprinkle on stamped versamark images. Using heat tool emboss. Bring out image using sponges and inks. Start with stencil to create flower. Last step is to stamp butterfly and color with watercolor pencils and then cut out layer on card stock.

Watercolor trio

Watercolor trio one of the new sets from the Summer Mini catalog. It was sooooo easy to make this card there is no way you can go wrong! I used stampin write markers instead of ink pads. Did you know you could do that? It is a wonderful way to stamp and spot color areas of a stamp. I was able to color the flowers and the stems different colors because I used the markers. I sort of wished I had colored the word wishes with Orchid Opulence to add a little more drama! Well I can always re do the card!

May is right around the corner and soon it will be time for a new release of the Paper Crafters Sampler. I am lucky enough to have joined the design team for this magazine. I have enjoyed working on some great designs and working with some amazing women.

Our theme for May is, Together forever, the wedding issue. The issue offers ideas for wedding invitations, favors and gifts and more. I love my contribution for the month and here is a sneak peek. I used one of the new sets from the summer mini!

Big shot bag Class

I have been playing with my big shot. Every one is making these cute little bags. I use mine for my lunch bag. It is really fun to make and it was nice to get out my sewing machine. it has been growing cobwebs since I stopped making dolls!

I purchased this set at least two years ago and have always liked it but never used it. I am determined to use some of my older sets so here goes. The first one would work great for a boy and the second version is great for a little girl. I love this set and was so happy to get it out. Dress with an Apron.

Vacation was wonderful!

Wow Vacation was wonderful! I spent last week In Florida with my Mom and Mother in Law. It was wonderful to see them Ann spend time catching up. It was also wonderful to get out of the snow up north! While it wasn't hot by any means, walking the beach and soaking up the rays was wonderful!
This card is one we did at this month's stamp ten groups and I will be doing this Thursday night with my open stamping night!

Technique
The technique to get the butterfly multi colored is the baby wipe technique. You fold a baby wipe to create a stamping pad. Place it on top of a plastic container(new acrylic blocks work great). Using Certainly celery, Old olive and Bermuda Bay reinkers, drop ink on top of baby wipe to make multi colored stamp pad

Paper Craft Sampler (PCS) is a digital magazine that I am a designer for.

I made this card for a friend and liked it so much we made this card for this month's stamp ten group! It is so easy to make with the wonderful Sale-A-bration punch and our new clear mounted stamps!

Accessories Stamping Dimensionals, filigree flower and ice brads, Old Olive, Rose Red stampin write markers, Daubers, pretty in pink ribbon.

To make the flower I cut 2 of the larger flower and one of the smaller flower. Using a dauber I colored the edges of each flower petal with Bravo Burgundy ink. then layered each flower and turned them so you could see all petals. Last step was to curl each petal and insert brad. and add a dimensional to lift the flower. Some of you have asked what the term Case means. Case means to "copy and share everything" I have copied a great article from my Stampin’Up magazine.

We hate to disagree with your mom, but here we go: Sometimes it’s OK to copy. A case in point? CASEing. You might already be familiar with the term CASE. There are several definitions, but we like this one because it best embodies our Statement of the Heart: Copy And Share Everything. Let’s face it: if we had to always rely solely on our own ideas, most of us would have just a few cards or pages to show for hours of work. Occasionally, we all get inspiration from someone else’s creations, and that’s a good thing. Here’s why. CASE ing can save you time. Instead of trying to coax ideas from your head, you can just flip through a magazine or browse a web site until you find something you love. (Yes, it’s fun to come up with your own original idea, but sometimes you don’t have the time, or you just don’t trust your own creative instincts.) When you find a project you love, you can re-create it exactly as it is, or you can customize it. CASE ing is creative. How many times have you looked at a sample and thought, “I like the layout but not the colors”? There’s no rule that says you have to CASE a project exactly as it is. Play around with it. Change the colors. Add or remove accents. Use a different stamp image or pop up accents with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The original project is just a jumping-off point for you—let your creativity shine as you make the project uniquely yours. It’s easy to find ideas to CASE. To make this card I folded satin ribbon back and forth to create the ruffled effect. Then I inserted a stick pin from our pretties kit. So very feminine. I also like to do cards that sometimes are unexpected color combination. I think the Rich Razzleberry works wonderfully for this Christmas card. Double Magic Slider Card

This card was a bit of a challenge. I fell in love with how this card opens and closes (sorry the animation is a bit fast)

So I had to try and make it Itook the instructions from a card at splitcoaststampers the tutorial was really helpful, but I still had to make adjustments to the measurements. I saw the reindeer somewhere on a blog. Suzie one of my customers decided to make her card look like Rudolph was coming out of a chimney isn't it just too cute! A tutorial for this card can be seen here , My measurements are a bit different than Beate's. I start with a 9 1/2 x6 inch card and my score marks are at 2 7/8, 6, 9 1/8

Well I know it is that time of year, and this morning we had a few flakes on the ground what a great way to start the Christmas shopping season! So I made a card that the snow inspired. I love our new Stampin' Up shimmer paint. You can paint with it, you can stamp with it and it is so pretty when it dries. I have here to views because depending on the angle the simmer paint really pops!

I was inspired to make this card by a card that I saw at Jan Tink's blog.

This card starts with stamping the tree images using Night of Navy. I then used my stampin write marker to fill in some of the branches. I then sponged the edges of the card with Night of Navy Ink. Using frost white shimmer paint and a dauber to I applied the paint to the stamps, and then I stamped the snowflakes all over the card. Stamp the sentiment. When dry using a 2 way glue pen mark the areas you want glitter on the trees and the hills. Stamp snowflakes and scallop designs punch out and adhere to card front with a small piece of Red polka dot ribbon. Hope you had a wonderful Holiday.

Buid a bear

I have been busy getting ready for a craft show in two weeks. This is one of the projects I am making. I think she needs a slip LOL! But Gotta Love her coordinating purse.

These are so easy to make. I used wonder under an adhesive for fabrics. You use an iron to adhere one side of the adhesive to felt or fabric. Cut out felt shapes using the buid a bear dies and your big shot. Pull back paper from the other side of shape and iron in place on bib. Easy peasy!

Wow I have been a bad blogger! I have been so sidelined with school related items I have not been doing a good job blogging but I have a card to share tonight.

Ever since this simply sent card kit was published in the new catty I have been drooling over the stamp set in the kit. My Downline Marilyn came to play one afternoon and brought the set in OOOOOh I said can I pretty please use the set! She of course obliged and we had a wonderful afternoon. Make your Christmas Cards Stunning

Want to add some bling to your projects, stamp in several shimmery shades of champagne, white and platinum!

Supplies you will need:

· Shimmer paint from Stampin’ Up!

· Sponge Daubers

· Dark Card stock

· Rubber stamps

Directions:

Shake bottle of Shimmer Paint make sure to do at least ten shakes
Open the lid and dab a sponge dauber into paint that is inside the lid
Apply shimmer paint direct to rubber image and stamp

A Witch for My Stamp Ten Classes!

A few weeks ago I showed you a card made by my friend Maria, it was a witch similar to this one. Well everyone liked her so much we made one this month at the stamp ten classes in my studio. My version was a card and started with a top note card front. You can create a card by folding the card stock in half and placing folded edge slightly below the cutting edge of the die. Run it through the big shot and you you have a top note shaped card!

Supplies

Paper- Whisper white, Basic black, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive
Ink- Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive
Accessories-Stamping dimensionals, Daubers, top note die, Small oval, 1/4, 1, 1/1/4, circle punches, filigree and fire brads, White siglo pen, stamping journaler

Cut 2 Pumpkin Pie Top note sections as well as one Old olive, and Basic Black
Cut one Pumpkin Pie length wise, cut the other horizontally for the bangs,
Cut out triangles to create hair then using a dauber color all the edges of the Pumpkin pie sections with the same color ink.
Using your punches cut a 1 1/4,and 1/4 circle as well as a oval from the Old Olive top section of the top note cutout.
Cut the larger Old Olive circle in half and using a dauber color the edges of all Old Olive pieces.
Cut the Basic back top note length wise and round the squared edges.
Cut a triangle out of scrap Basic Black
Assemble the hat and insert filigree and fire brad for a decorative look
Assemble all facial features and using dimensional secure to face. I find it best to put it all together with the backing on the dimensional so I can get an idea of the best layout glue it all together and add a sentiment to the inside! enjoy

A Christmas Card!

Another card from my stamp a stack!

I saw a similar card at convention and was mesmerized with the concept of creating a wreath from the pine bough of the autumn days stamp set! Because I never met the artist I set about figuring out how to making it . It really was not that hard I started with stamping the sentiment in the center of the card stock. I then made a mask/template with a large oval punch and a post it note. I then drew six lines to guide me as I stamped so the pine boughs were evenly spaced. I then use a Always Artichoke stampin write marker to filling any pine needles needed to create a full wreath. Lastly I colored over the pine cones with Creamy Carmel and Soft Suede stampin Write markers

I received this witch at convention from my friend Maria Lemo! Isn't she wickedly adorable!

Another Christmas Card

The Idea for this card came from a card I saw at convention. This was one of six cards we made for my stamp a stack last weekend.

Here is the one of the cards we made for the a stamp a stack this weekend. It was a fun time lots of laughs and everyone made such nice cards. We had so much fun that I am doing it again In November with six new cards! You can sign up for the November 21st stamp a stack by e-mailing me at vkillmore@gmail.com

The design for this card came from a similar card I got at a swap at convention. I wish I know who made it so I could give her credit. I changed the ribbon but pretty much every else is the same.

Another Punch Page

Here is another another punch page to share with you!

Start by creating a mask for the sun set with scrap paper and the 1 ¾ inch circle punch. Punch out circle and lay left over part down to create a mask. Using daubers color in sun. I used More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie ink. Lift mask and soften by using same colors to create hazy effect over sun. Stamp the grass side of Inspired by nature with Always Artichoke ink. Cut cattails with word window punch using Soft Suede card stock. Using a dauber and soft suede ink create dimension by coloring edges of cattails, glue down

Wow I am so excited I just found out that the project above won an award from Stamping Up's Owner Shelli Gardner ! Her blog is called So Shelli. I really need to thank Sharon Fisher who showed me how to make one and was my inspiration for this project!

Cute Pumpkin!

The other day I saw the cutest pumpkin made by Gretchen Barron. I thought I would give it a try myself. Isn't he just the cutest!

Supplies
Ink Only orange
Paper Old olive, Basic black, Only orange
Accessories Pillow box Sizzix die, dauber Tombow 1, 1/2, 1/4 Inch circle punches as well as the photo corners punch!

Start by cutting out 3 pillow boxes from Only Orange paper. Using only orange ink and a dauber daub edges of the pillow box to highlight. Then glue with Tombow the three pillow box sections together side by side to make the pumpkin body. Also cut large scallop for the bottom. I flipped up the edges of the scallop circle and put Tombow on the bottom sections of Pumpkin. Carefully slide scallop circle from the top of the pumpkin to the bottom and press the glue to the the scallop circle to adhere the bottom to the pumpkin.

To make the face cut three of the smallest triangles from the Photo corner punch from Basic Black and glue together to make the smile. Using a leftover large Photo corner triangle to cut the nose. Then punch out two 1 " circle from basic black. As well as two 1/4 " circles also from basic black. Cut two 1/2 " circles from more mustard and glue all the features to the front of your pumpkin. Cut a old olive one inch strip for the handle and cut a sliver strip at the same time to create the curls. Attach handel with more tombow. Make curls using a thin paint brush to wrap sliver of Old Olive card stock and then attach. Easy peasy with my Bigshot!

Here is another punch page I made for convention. I made this page using our flower punch and the boho blossoms punch. I used coordinating ink with the paper to create depth and dimension on the carrots as well as the carrot tops.

I Love the fact that we have coordinating inks for our paper. I remember when I first started stamping I would get so frustrated when purchasing paper and ink that I thought would coordinate only to find they didn't match! Coordinating ink and paper is what brought me to Stampin' UP and keeps me. I am always surprised how when using the ink of the same color creates depth and dimension and was an important part of making these carrots really pop! Thanks for looking Virginia
